Datamatics 2.0 is an audiovisual installation created by Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda, who often combines raw numeric data and computer-generated sounds to visualize the streams of digital information in virtual environments. For this particular artwork, Ikeda pulled various data sets from well-known research institutes like NASA and the Human Genome Project, not to mention the very data that was produced in the making of this project.
“Ryoji Ikeda: The Transcendental” is on display at the French Institute Alliance Française Gallery at 22 East 60th Street, New York through October 16. For more info, visit www.fiaf.org.
